About Model Institute of Engineering and Technology:
Model Institute of Engineering and Technology was established in 1996 after approval of the AICTE was received, making it the first engineering college in the private sector in J&K. However, the first batch of students was admitted in 1999 subsequent to the formulation of policies of the J&K Government governing higher technical education. Since then, MIET has graduated 25 batches of engineering students, published more than 1000 research papers and filed 70 patents and made significant progress while adhering to its founding ideals. MIET is the flagship institution of the MIER Group (Model Institute of Education and Research) which has a glorious legacy of over 85 years. It is the oldest educational group in Jammu and Kashmir and a role-model for private educational enterprise.
About CSE Department:
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at MIET is the first and NBA accredited CSE department in the State of J&K, which speaks volumes of the high-quality instruction and training imparted to its students. Manned by highly qualified, committed and dynamic faculty and staff, the department has emerged as the leading departments in the region in terms of placements, university results, alumni, industrial linkages, quality of project work, research and development, extra/co-curricular activities and novel academic initiatives.
About The Seminar:
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming every facet of modern life — from personalized healthcare and smart agriculture to intelligent governance and language technologies. However, the benefits of AI remain inaccessible to many due to language barriers, especially in linguistically diverse regions like Jammu & Kashmir. Recognizing the importance of inclusivity in technological advancement, this two-day seminar aims to make AI concepts and applications accessible to Dogri-speaking communities by delivering all sessions in the Dogri language. This seminar will explore foundational and applied aspects of AI with a strong regional focus, emphasizing how AI can support local development, preserve Dogri language and culture, and empower communities. Participants will gain insights into AI fundamentals, natural language processing for Dogri, and real-world applications in areas such as education, healthcare, agriculture, and governance.
The sessions will be delivered by expert Dogri-speaking academicians and professionals from reputed institutions and organizations. The sessions will cover a structured progression of topics – from an introduction to AI to specialized areas like natural language processing for Dogri, AI applications in local industries, and the role of AI in preserving Dogri culture. Each talk will be delivered in Dogri to maximize comprehension and engagement of local participants. Through invited talks, discussions, and live demonstrations in Dogri, the seminar will bridge the gap between cutting-edge AI research and regional applicability.
Objectives
- Develop foundational understanding of artificial intelligence concepts and tools through delivery in the Dogri language, ensuring accessibility and comprehension for regional faculty and scholars.
