Institution's Innovation Council
Overview
The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) at MIET plays a pivotal role in nurturing a culture of creativity and problem-solving by organizing hackathons, ideation challenges, startup incubation programs, and technical training sessions. Through strategic collaborations with industry leaders, research organizations, and government initiatives, IIC empowers students and faculty to transform ideas into viable solutions with real-world impact.

To promote grassroots innovation leading to the incubation of start-ups in the region
Mission
To develop an ecosystem of innovation and entrepreneurship at MIET with adequate infrastructure that can enable students and faculty to innovate, prototype and commercialise their potential ideas
Major Focus of IIC
- To create a vibrant local innovation ecosystem
- Start-up/ entrepreneurship supporting Mechanism in HEIs
- Establish Function Ecosystem for Scouting Ideas and Pre-incubation of Ideas
- Develop better Cognitive Ability amongst Technology Students
MIET Achieves Prestigious 4-Star Rating

MIET has been awarded a 4-star rating by the Innovation Cell, Ministry of Education (MoE), Govt. of India, for its outstanding efforts in promoting innovation and startups during the IIC Calendar Year 2023-24. Ranked among the top 200 institutions nationwide and the top 20 in North West India, MIET continues to foster a thriving ecosystem of creativity, research, and entrepreneurship. This achievement is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our faculty members and IIC team, who have consistently organized impactful innovative activities throughout the year.
Functions of IIC
- Promote innovation in the Institution through multitudinous modes leading to an innovation promotion eco – system in the campus.
- To conduct various innovation and entrepreneurship-related activities prescribed by Central MIC in time bounded fashion.
- Identify and reward innovations and share success stories.
- Organize periodic workshops/ seminars/ interactions with entrepreneurs, investors, professionals and create a mentor pool for student innovators.
- Network with peers and national entrepreneurship development organizations.
- Create an Institution’s Innovation portal to highlight innovative projects carried out by institution’s faculty and students.
- Organize Hackathons, idea competition, mini challenges etc., with the involvement of industries.
