India @ 2047: Vision for Future Cities and Urban Lives

The School of Management at MIET had the honour of hosting a thought-provoking interaction with Dr. Devansh Yadav (IAS), Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, on envisioning the future of Indian cities.

Dr. Yadav shared a compelling vision for Smart Cities, focusing on critical pillars like transport, water management, sanitation, recreation, and citizen-centric amenities. He presented several transformative initiatives redefining Jammu’s urban landscape, including:

• Tawi Riverfront Development and afforestation efforts
• Water MX Plant initiatives for sustainability
• Waste to Wonder Park for creative reuse
• Aspirational Toilets to promote hygiene and dignity
• Introduction of Electric Buses for cleaner mobility
• Implementation of the AMRUT Mission to boost urban infrastructure

A key highlight was the emphasis on SMART Governance, calling for synergy between citizens, government, and private stakeholders to build inclusive and resilient urban futures. Dr. Yadav also urged active public participation via the “My Jammu” app.
