Prof. Ankur Gupta

Prof. Ankur Gupta, B.E (Hons.) Computer Science, MS Software Systems degrees from BITS, Pilani and Ph.D. from the NIT Hamirpur, is the Director at MIET, Jammu. Prior to joining academia, he worked as a Technical Team Lead at Hewlett Packard. He has filed 30 patents, published 80+ research papers and received competitive funding over Rs. 2.5 Crores. He is recipient of AICTE Career Award for Young Teachers and creator of the Performance Insight-360 framework which won the QCI Platinum Award.

Mr. Kuldeep Khoda is a distinguished former Director General of Jammu & Kashmir Police (2007-2012) and Chief Vigilance Commissioner (2013-2017). With a background in M.Sc. Physics from I.I.T. He pioneered the Village Defence Scheme and received numerous national and international awards for his exceptional service, including the Webber Seavey Award and the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration.

Centre for Research, Innovation & Entrepreneurship
Overview
The Center for Research, Innovation & Entrepreneurship (CRIE) at MIET was inaugurated on April 10, 2019, by Prof. Manoj K. Dhar, Vice Chancellor of the University of Jammu. This initiative offers students hands-on experience with real-world projects in emerging fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Deep Learning, IoT, Cloud Computing, and Robotic Process Automation. Operating on an internship-based model, selected students collaborate on projects under the guidance of expert faculty mentors, gaining practical skills, filing patents, and publishing research papers. It encourages interdisciplinary teamwork, bringing students from various departments together to innovate. Prof. Ankur Gupta, Director of MIET, leads as the Chief Mentor, supported by faculty mentors Prof. Sahil Sawhney, Dr. Suhaib Ahmed, and Mr. Karan Khajuria. Currently, more than 20 students are actively engaged in pioneering research and development through CRIE.

CRIE is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to support its initiatives. Students from Model Academy School and Activity Higher Secondary School have explored CRIE, witnessing firsthand how cutting-edge technologies are utilized in research and innovation.

CRIE has established collaborations with industry partners and academic institutions to enhance its research capabilities and entrepreneurial support. The center has been instrumental in incubating IT products and filing patents, reflecting its commitment to innovation and practical application of research.
