Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET) Jammu organized an award ceremony to felicitate students who secured a place on the prestigious Director's Merit List through their academic accomplishments. The event was graced by Prof. Rajeev Rattan Sharma, Dean Faculty of Education and Director of Colleges Development Council, University of Jammu, who was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Other dignitaries present at the event included Prof. Ankur Gupta, Director, MIET, Prof. S.K Sharma, Member Board of Directors, MIER Group, Prof. G.S Sambyal, Distinguished Professor, School of Computing, Prof. B.C Sharma, Dean, Training and Placements, Dr. Sahil Sawhney, GM, Strategic Initiatives, Prof. Ashok Kumar, Dean Academics and Mr. Ashwani Padha, Controller of Examinations.
The Director's Merit List is an initiative launched at MIET to felicitate students who have produced outstanding results in semester examinations and finished in the top 3 in their course of study. The award was presented to students from all the UG and PG programs including Engineering, Management, Computer Applications, and Commerce.
During the award ceremony, Prof. Rajeev Rattan Sharma distributed medals and certificates to the meritorious students. Around 55 students from different courses received the Director’s Merit List medals and certificates. Speaking at the event, Prof. Rajeev Rattan Sharma expressed his appreciation for the exceptional academic standards maintained by MIET Jammu and appreciated the leadership team for its commitment to fostering a culture of academic excellence. In his speech, Prof. Rattan emphasized the importance of three key factors, which he referred to as the three T's including Technology, Trans-Disciplinarity, and Transparency. He reiterated the importance of individual students in building successful careers while contributing meaningfully to nation-building. He cited MIET as an example of a Trans-Disciplinary institution that embraces an interdisciplinary approach to education and research, fostering collaboration and synergy among different disciplines such as engineering, technology, management, law, and other fields of knowledge. He also appreciated the significant achievements of MIET in the last 3 years since the grant of Autonomous status in placements, research and development, innovation, use of technology, faculty development, teaching and learning, and student outcomes. He congratulated the awardees for their outstanding achievements and motivated them to continue their pursuit of excellence in their academic journey.
Earlier Prof. Ankur Gupta, Director MIET Jammu formally welcomed the Chief Guest and described him as an eminent personality in the field of education with a wealth of knowledge and experience. He extended his warmest congratulations to the students who made it to the Director's Merit List and applauded them for their remarkable achievements. He further emphasized the importance of developing human skills and emotional intelligence to compete in the age of artificial intelligence and ChatGPT.
